Is cancer preventable?

Preventing cancer is not as simple as infectious diseases or vaccinations, but there are a number of small things we can do to reduce our chances of developing it. Still, heredity is an important factor in this case. That does not mean that the effort is futile. Even if the disease has begun, it is not advisable to give up any efforts, since they can have a significant impact on the course of the disease.

Tumors and their negative effects can be prevented by following these five steps:
1) Get preventive checkups
In our country, preventive checkups are free. In fact, many tumors can be the result of less serious diseases left untreated. Cancerous changes themselves are also much less dangerous if treatment is started early.

2)Quit smoking cigarettes and alcohol
This does not only mean consumption of cigarettes, because there is an equal risk from secondhand smoke. Therefore, if possible, move around in a smoke-free environment.
Beware of sun and radiation
Avoid excessive exposure to radiation, from X-rays to sun rays; sun rays without UV filters are particularly dangerous for children. Tanning beds are also recommended to be avoided.4)
Vaccination
Some cancers are caused by vaccineable causative agents. The best known example is the human papillomavirus (HPV), which produces, for example, cervical cancer in women and anal neoplasms in men.

5) Healthy diet and exercise
With regard to diet, it is especially important to try to minimize carcinogens in food. Many of these substances can be found on the surface of fruits, for example, or in sprays. The best-known examples of carcinogens in food are nitrosamines, acrylamides, and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons.
